Everyday Eats: Helping Older Adults Access Nutritious Food
At Mountain Resource Center (MRC), we understand that access to nutritious food is essential—especially for older adults living on a fixed income. With rising grocery costs and the lingering financial impacts of COVID-19, many seniors in our community are struggling to afford the food they need to stay healthy.
That’s why we’re excited to announce that the Everyday Eats program is coming to MRC. This state-administered food assistance program provides free, monthly groceries to low-income adults 60 and older.
How Does Everyday Eats Work?
Older adults who qualify receive a box of nutritious, shelf-stable food every month, including:
✔️ Canned fruits & vegetables 🥫
✔️ Pasta, rice & cereal 🍞
✔️ Cheese & shelf-stable milk 🧀
✔️ Peanut butter & other pantry staples 🥜
This program helps older adults maintain a balanced diet, reduce grocery expenses, and access healthy, reliable food options.
