Mountain Resource Center Awarded $15,000 Nourishing Neighbors Nutrition Security Grant

We are thrilled to share some wonderful news—Mountain Resource Center has been awarded a $15,000 Nourishing Neighbors Nutrition Security Program Grant! This grant will make a significant impact in helping us break down barriers and ensure that our rural clients can access the nutrition assistance they are eligible for.

Many in our community face challenges when it comes to accessing SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits. These barriers include:

  • Lack of Access to Secure Internet Connections: Many rural areas struggle with reliable internet, making online applications difficult to complete.
  • Uncertainty About Eligibility: Clients often are unsure if they qualify for SNAP benefits and may avoid applying due to this uncertainty.
  • Difficulty Using Technology: Some of our clients are unfamiliar with or have trouble navigating the digital tools required to apply.
  • Stigma Surrounding Assistance Programs: The social stigma associated with applying for benefits often discourages eligible individuals from seeking support.

With the help of this grant, Mountain Resource Center will be able to assist many households, including children, families, seniors, and veterans, in applying for and receiving SNAP benefits. This funding will allow us to provide personalized support, such as helping clients complete applications, navigating eligibility requirements, and addressing any technological challenges they face.

We are grateful to the Nourishing Neighbors Nutrition Security Program for supporting our mission to create a healthier, more connected community. By removing these barriers, we can ensure that more of our neighbors have access to nutritious food and the support they need to thrive.

Thank you to everyone who makes our work possible, from our dedicated staff and volunteers to the donors and organizations that champion our programs. Together, we are building a community that is healthy, secure, and connected.
